Level II Guard Training (TX)

Private Security Level II Training
This course is the foundational requirement for all non-commissioned security officers in Texas. Participants must:
- Complete all course modules.
- Achieve a score of at least 75% on the written examination to earn certification.

- Security Officer Basics
- Roles, responsibilities, and equipment requirements.
- Applicable Rules and State Laws
- Overview of regulations under the Texas Occupations Code (TOC) §1702 and the Texas Administrative Code (TAC) Chapter 35.
- Personal Communication and Conflict Resolution
- Techniques to manage interactions effectively.
- Use of Force
- Legal standards and appropriate application.
- Arrests
- Procedures and limitations under state law.
- Verbal and Written Communication Best Practices
- Documentation and reporting standards.
- Emergencies and Safety
- Responding to various emergency scenarios.


Evaluation Strategy
- Assessment: Written examination.
- Passing Requirement: A minimum score of 75%.
Professional Expectations
- Familiarity with the Private Security Program (PSP) managed by the Regulatory Services Division (RSD).
- Understanding of applicable laws, ethical standards, and professionalism.
- Ability to differentiate between security officer duties and peace officer responsibilities.
- Continuous use of the DPS (Department of Public Safety) and RSD websites for resources and updates throughout their career.
