  4. Personal Communication and Conflict Resolution
    • Techniques to manage interactions effectively.
  5. Use of Force
    • Legal standards and appropriate application.
  6. Arrests
    • Procedures and limitations under state law.
  7. Verbal and Written Communication Best Practices
    • Documentation and reporting standards.
  8. Emergencies and Safety

Evaluation Strategy

  • Assessment: Written examination.
  • Passing Requirement: A minimum score of 75%.

Professional Expectations

  1. Familiarity with the Private Security Program (PSP) managed by the Regulatory Services Division (RSD).
  2. Understanding of applicable laws, ethical standards, and professionalism.
  3. Ability to differentiate between security officer duties and peace officer responsibilities.
  4. Continuous use of the DPS (Department of Public Safety) and RSD websites for resources and updates throughout their career.
